Michigan City, IN – July 30, 2012— The Black-Eyed P celebrates its Grand Opening on Friday, August 3 in Michigan City. The latest culinary hot spot to hit the Michigan City scene, The Black- Eyed P, is a full-service restaurant located at 110 W. 9th Street. The family-friendly, yet rustically hip ambience touts its food to be deliciously southern and distinctly fresh. The Black-Eyed P offers southern-fusion cuisine—a mixture of southern, Caribbean and Creole foods; giving a unique blend of savory tastes and delectable flavors.
All of the menu items are made fresh daily with no frozen ingredients. A few specialty items on the menu include blackened shrimp and scallop with black bean gravy and Jasmine rice, collard green egg rolls, and chipotle grilled tilapia cakes with mango salsa. The grilled shrimp cocktail is a homemade shrimp cocktail sauce made with pieces of shrimp, onion, cilantro, tomato and spices and served with grilled jumbo shrimp. The Woodfire turkey carver sandwich is a popular dish with turkey cooked in a choice of three flavors – Caribbean Jerk, Cajun and Herb & Garlic— and served with lettuce, tomato and a special mayo on sourdough bread. The peach cobbler and sweet potato cheesecake are the featured homemade desserts.
The two-story complex has split-room dining on the first floor, with a bar and dining area that seats a total of 106 individuals. The upstairs houses a full banquet hall with a seating capacity of 104 in banquet setting (using 8-foot rounds) and a stage for live music, a disc jockey or a wedding party. The 13-foot high ceiling and long windows make the perfect setting for a celebratory event. There are a variety of wedding packages to meet every bridal budget.
The Black-Eyed P touts one of the largest outdoor patios with al fresco dining in Michigan City. The unique space is available for private events and parties. The venue will be open for concerts and live entertainment as well.
The new kitchen is open Tuesdays – Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. for lunch and dinner, and the bar is open until 9pm. Friday and Saturdays, the hours of operation are from 11:00 a.m.-11:00 p.m., Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., and the kitchen is closed on Mondays. Specialty drinks include fresh-fruit martinis and non-alcoholic fruit drinks.
Catering is available for The Black-Eyed P menu items for pick-up and delivery for any size event.
